D008: Mario's sound spacious with a hint of playfulness, which is reflected in crisp aural focus on this release. Mirrors proves that Mr Leal is full of surprises, and not afraid to push the boundaries. From the initial build it is not entirely clear what's in store, the pulsating low end tinged with reflective hits fuel the early interludes with a spacial feel with shakers, snares & melodic key touches landing in three dimensional aural space. Again Mario builds slowly into a second theme towards the break, teasing with live recorded drums before pulling the blindfold away from your eyes into a musical interlude which left us all completely speechless. for a very long time. Humanimals smacks of carefully placed soft organic tonal hits & effected sweeps, layered over a driving bass. Diving initially into a minimalist vibe Mario drops into his melodic side, stretching the break to the limit before diving back into the depths like a technoctopus. rolling deep sea techno.
